In Dingiri Banda v. The Attorney-General, the court examined whether voluntary intoxication can negate the imputation of knowledge for crimes where knowledge or intent is an essential element; the adequacy of using a charge sheet versus a plaint for charging an accused; and the Magistrate’s sentencing jurisdiction under the Code of Criminal Procedure Act and the Offences Against Public Property Act.
