In the case between Jayasiriwardena (plaintiff-appellant) and Piyarattne (defendant-respondent), the court addressed whether a lease agreement of bare land, which permitted the tenant to construct and subsequently remove temporary structures, constituted a tenancy subject to the Rent Act.
