Gunathilake Alahakoon Mudiyanselage Udaya Emetiyagoda v. Nimal Kottawalagedara et al. – NO. 162/2018-2018

In the case between Gunathilake Alahakoon Mudiyanselage Udaya Emetiyagoda (Petitioner) and Nimal Kottawalagedara (Commissioner General of Buddhist Affairs), Hon. Gamini Jayawickrama Perera (Minister of Buddha Sasana), and Dilruwan Rajapaksha (Office of the Basnayaka Nilame, Ruhunu Maha Katharagama Devakata) (Respondents), the court addressed the issue of whether the Petitioner was entitled to writs of Certiorari, Prohibition, and Mandamus to restrain the 3rd Respondent from acting as temporary trustee of the Kataragama Maha Devalaya, based on alleged tradition and claims of unfitness of the 3rd Respondent.
