In the case between Mr. M.N.M. Nafees (Petitioner) and the University Grants Commission, the Commissioner General of Examinations, and various officials (Respondents), the Supreme Court addressed the issue of alleged violation of fundamental rights under Articles 12(1) and 12(2) of the Constitution. The central question concerned the eligibility of the Petitioner for university admission based on alleged suppression and misrepresentation of material facts relating to his G.C.E. (Advanced Level) Examination results and the accuracy of information submitted regarding his attendance at A/Kahatagasdigiliya MMV. The court determined that the application was fatally flawed due to the Petitioner’s failure to fully and honestly disclose material facts, and found no violation of fundamental rights
