In the case between the appellant widow of Mohideen Cassim (present owner under the Last Will) and Weerawardene, Commissioner for National Housing, and others (including the interests of the 2nd respondent, widow of Shah Mihilar), the Supreme Court addressed whether the statutory right to purchase a vested housing property, initially personal to the tenant, became a proprietary right upon issuance of the vesting order and, upon the tenant’s death, devolved upon the lawful heirs.
